Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is not just a place it’s a feeling. A living heartbeat of the Earth where every sunrise begins a new story of the wild.

The Timeless Heart of the African Wilderness.

Few places on Earth capture the essence of the wild like the Serengeti National Park Tanzania’s most iconic safari destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spanning over 14,000 square kilometers, the Serengeti is a breathtaking expanse of endless plains, dotted with acacia trees, rocky kopjes, and teeming with wildlife. It’s the stage for one of nature’s greatest spectacles The Great Wildebeest Migration.

The Land of Endless Plains

The Great Wildebeest Migration

Every year, over 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move in a vast circular journey across the Serengeti ecosystem, following the rains in search of greener pastures.
This natural wonder often called “the greatest show on Earth” is a timeless rhythm of life and survival that draws travelers, photographers, and filmmakers from around the globe.

From December to July, herds can be found across the Serengeti’s southern and central plains, while July to October brings dramatic river crossings in the north as they head into Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

A Sanctuary of Wildlife

Beyond the migration, Serengeti is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife including the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos.
Cheetahs sprint across the open plains, giraffes browse the treetops, and countless birds fill the skies. The park offers unforgettable game drives, balloon safaris, and intimate encounters with Africa’s untamed spirit.

Landscapes That Tell Stories

The Serengeti’s beauty lies not only in its animals but in its changing scenery from the grassy savannahs of Seronera, to the woodlands of Grumeti, and the rugged kopjes of the central plains where lions rest under the sun. Every corner holds a story of life in motion.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The Serengeti offers spectacular wildlife viewing all year round, but the best time to visit depends on what you want to experience:

  • December to March (Calving Season – Southern Serengeti):
This is when over 500,000 wildebeest calves are born in the short-grass plains around Ndutu. It’s a magical time to witness new life and intense predator action as lions and cheetahs follow the herds.
  • April to June (Migration Northward – Central & Western Serengeti):
The herds begin their great trek north, crossing the Grumeti River a thrilling scene of strength, struggle, and survival. The park is lush and less crowded during this time.
  • July to October (River Crossings – Northern Serengeti):
This is the most dramatic period of the Great Migration, as wildebeests and zebras cross the Mara River. It’s the peak season for action, adventure, and photography.
  • November (Short Rains – Return South):
The herds head back toward the southern plains, and the landscape transforms into vibrant green once again.
